27 Jan Dissertation Defended
I am happy to report that I have successfully defended my doctoral dissertation, my final obligation as a student. My dissertation is a 15-minutes
work for 17 chamber musicians called Invisible Victories. Using one of each member of the orchestra (plus an additional violinist and
percussionist), this work explores various textural possibilities of the chamber/orchestra hybrid. After review by the graduate school, I will officially
be a doctor of music – an exciting milestone in my career as a composer and educator. Special thanks to my dissertation committee members Donald Crockett, Stephen Hartke, and Andrew Norman. Just listing those names makes me feel simultaneously humbled and wildly honored to have their stamps of approval.
