12 Apr Millay Colony Residency
In May, I will be travelling to Austerlitz, New York to stay at the Millay Colony for the Arts. There I will have the physical, psychological, and temporal space to compose with force and focus. I’m excited for this opportunity and honored to have been offered this residency along with five other writers and artists with whom I’ll be sharing the experience.
The plan is to devote time to composing a work for two pianos for HOCKET and, if time, another work to be announced in the coming months. Of course, I also plan to use the time to renew my mind, body, and spirit in other ways, including reading, running, and eating good food with new colleagues. This residency comes at the perfect time: the calm before the storm that is my first year as an assistant professor. After the residency, I’ll have two and a half months to prepare for my first classes at Webster University in St. Louis. More on that later.
